We have a pond in our front yard. This photo was taken right out my front door. This little guy has been hanging out all spring and summer. We normally see him bobbing in the water, but this time he was on a lilly pad. I had to run back inside, grab my camera and not miss this moment. Beauty is everywhere! Even right out your front door!Time
About 2:00pm in the afternoonLighting
This was all natural lighting. Nothing special about the lighting other than I was trying to get it right, right out of the camera.Equipment
D800 and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 lenseInspiration
I kind of explained that in the first question, but I think it is worth noting that these moments are everywhere... You just have to take the time to slow down and enjoy your surroundings. This was not taken in a jungle, he had no super cool surrounding I could use as props... Just a frog being a frog. I think that's what I liked so much about this picture. Really anyone can create this image if they are not afraid to get a little dirty and get down on the ground.Editing
I used Lightroom. In my camera bag
I always have my D800 and my 70-200 but I also love, love, love my Nikon 50 1.8G. It's a good inexpensive lens that is more versatile than most of my fancier most expensive lenses. I never leave home without it.Feedback
Don't just say at your level when trying to capture a moment. This is the same for all types of photography. Lay down on the ground, get up on a ladder... Play with different angles and take a chance. Happy shooting!
