Thank you very much! It is much appreciated! And that little bit of gold is why I left it in color :)

Location
This photo was taken at birds hill park in Manitoba on chickadee trail. Sit there long enough and they miss that you’re even there. I probably had 4 or 5 sitting on me when this was taken.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon. I got to the trails mid morning so the birds would get use to me being there. I had lots of seeds with me so I was able to make friends. And I just picked a spot and waited for the right time.Lighting
This photo has very little editing done to it. I wanted it to be natural to show how beautiful the bird is on its own. I made sure to have a great depth of field so all the focus was on the chickadee. It was also January so there is no greenery to distract from the bird. I wanted a very neutral pallet.Equipment
I used a Nikon D700 camera body with a standard 18-55mm lens. I hand held his shot as they tend to bounce around quite a bit so a tripod just couldn’t do. I also had a UV filter on my lens.Inspiration
I love birds. I wanted to capture an image that showed the beauty and simplicity of the common chickadee. People seem to pass them over because we have so many here and they’re always around. But to watch them they’re so curious and oddly trusting. They are wonderful birds and I wanted to get people to look at them differently and appreciate them to all their being.Editing
Very little was done to this image. A quick color balance and sharpen. And I brought out the highlights and upped the contrast. In my camera bag
I always have my D700 with me. I keep 3 lenses with me at all times. A standard 18-55, a wide angle, and a macro. Cleaning utensils like cloths spray and brushes are always on hand. An extra fully charged battery and extra memory cards are kept in my bag. For myself I always have a bottle of water and a granola bar or two.Feedback
Be prepared to wait. I sat in a snow bank for over 5 hours making friends with the birds and just waiting for one to land long enough to capture. Since these guys aren’t skiddish I was able to move have a drink give them seed. But I did have to stick around so they could get use to me. Nature is on its own schedule. Weather it’s wildlife or landscape you cant change it so appreciate its beauty because of its flaws. And adjust to its time.
