Deep in the Missouri woods outside of Holt Summit, Missouri.Time
This was taken late afternoon with a slight breeze in the air. A tad bit on the cool side as you can see by the lack of greenery. Model was such an adventurous spirit and was willing to do whatever and was extremely excited about this photo.Lighting
With only one speedflash and a small cheap softbox, I was able to utilize the sun that was coming through the trees as her mother held a reflector to bounce the light.Equipment
Canon 6D, a 50mm canon lens, with cheap speedlight, cheap stand and even cheaper reflector. You do not need expensive gear to get the shot. You just need a little gift from above in the form of God's given light.Inspiration
With all of the normal maternity shots out there, this model was willing to go the distance. It was a very private setting and no one in the area. Thus the perfect setup for going natural in nature.Editing
That is the glory of this photo. The only thing that was done to the phone was increasing the exposure in lightroom.In my camera bag
I took this photo at the start of my career with the basic, cheapest setup you can get. Since that photo, I have increased my lens to include the Canon 70-200mm, the Canon 100mm macro, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, three speedlights and a monolight.Feedback
Take a chance. Walk the distance until you come across the background you see in your mind. Step outside the box and above all, look for the light. Nature has supplied the best backdrops and the best lighting. With a little fill to bring out the features, you can capture something amazing.
