This is a beautiful photo. My daughter has two whippets and this photo shows how regal they can be (when they are not racing around madly)

What an absolutely beautiful photo, everything about it is just right. It makes me think of the paintings done for royalty of their prized animals.

Location
In São Paulo, Brazil. It's actually a family dog from a relative and her name is Sunny.Time
Early evening, but it didn't mater, the light from outside was irrelevant on this photo.Lighting
The key to make this shot special was to gradually darken the borders, and isolate only the dog and the main part of the sofa.Equipment
70D with a 17-50mm 2.8 lens, My uncle helped me by holding the flash (430EX II with a Gary Fong Lightsphere) about 2 meters away from the dog, he was close to me but about a meter higher than the camera. The transmitter was a Yongnuo YN-622C.Inspiration
The dog has an interesting personality and really likes that sofa, and we noticed it would be a good scenario for a photo.Editing
A little, just darkening the edges of the background with gradual filters and some de-saturation on the dog, so it would have a perfectly grey fur.In my camera bag
For that photo, all I had in my bag was the 70D, the flash, the diffuser and the transmitters.Feedback
Be persistent on your dog photos, it's tricky because the dog has no idea of what you're trying to do and sometimes it's even hard keeping it still. It took me over 30 shots to get this one, in the others the dog was looking away, or moving, or trying to leave the sofa. An extra person that can stay close to the dog will help a lot.
