I took this photo at Miami Beach.Time
I can't remember the extra time but it has to be around 3 am.Lighting
The shot wasn't something fancy, it's was simple light painting with my phone's flash.Equipment
For this photo I used my trusty Canon 60D, with the basic starters kit lens the 18-55mm, a tripod, and my phone (as the light source)Inspiration
Well it was a very spontaneous shot, I was showing my uncle's ocean drive and we decided to go in a little adventure and go in the beach offer it was closed. I saw the little hut and I thought it would be a good idea to try some light painting. I didn't have much in my bag since I wasn't planning on getting "artsy". So that's where my phone came in handy.Editing
I used Photoshop to enhance the lighting and refine some more details. In my camera bag
I usually carry a external flash, my 50mm 1.8, the 18-55mm, a gorilla tripod, some tube extentions and a fish eye adapter.Feedback
Photography is an art of being spontaneous and creative. Never be afraid of trying new things and experimenting with different techniques. Another thing is to always pack your camera, anywhere you go just take it with you. The perfect shot can be out there and you can't miss it. To take a shot like this the basics are to have a tripod, your camera (obviously), a source light like a flashlight or some LED'S or whatever that you think might look nice and in some cases a timer may be required. After you have all equipment ready set your camera for a long exposure, you might have to adjust it according to your surroundings, give it a couple of shots until you have the right shot, set the timer for 2 seconds or more so you have time to get to where you want to do some light painting. Once your camera is set up be creative and paint your ideas for the camera.
