Location
Located in Singapore’s Civic District, this is the National Gallery Singapore. The Gallery consists of two national monuments, the former Supreme Court Building and and the adjoining City Hall, and has a combined floor area of 64,000 square metres (690,000 sq ft), making it the largest visual arts venue and largest museum in Singapore when it opens. A total cost of S$532 million to transform these monuments into the National Gallery Singapore’s development. these corner is the the former Supreme Court Building corner. The Former Supreme Court building was built on the site of the former Grand Hotel de l'Europe, one of the most palatial hotels in Southeast Asia that was demolished in 1936. Designed by Frank Dorrington Ward, Chief Architect of the Public Works Department, the former Supreme Court building was built to house Supreme Court offices and courtrooms and was declared open on 3 August 1939.This building is the former courthouse of the Supreme Court of Singapore, before it moved out and commenced operations in the new building on 20 June 2005. Left vacant for two years, it began rebuilding and refurbishing works in early 2008. The new National Gallery Singapore will featured one of the twelve, the iconic France-trained Georgette Chen (1906-1993), she was a Singapore painter known for her Post-Impressionistic styled oil paintings. Her paintings are long sought after by collectors and museums all over the world. Other Singapore painters like Cheong Soo Pieng, Lee Man Fong, Raden Saleh, Chua Mia Tee, Fernando Amorsolo were be some of the feature artists.Time
It was shot in the night where lightings were dim and rather dark.Lighting
Due to the dim lighting condition, I shot it at ISO 6400. 24 secs and absorbed as much lighting all around as possible. The result is as surprising to me as well. It really showcase it original grandeur of its heyday. There were internal lightings to consider as well. Workers were seen moving around the inside putting the finish touch to the refurbish building.Equipment
My new Son a7M2 mounted on tripod for long exposure.Inspiration
I was taking a bus past this location one of the evening and I saw the National Gallery near completion. I told myself that I need to come back to this place in about two to three weeks to check out the completion. I came back in three weeks and they have yet to remove the scaffoldings. I gone back again in another three weeks and they were ready.Editing
Post processing were just colour levelling and balancing. I shot another shot with an orange filter to add ambience to the surrounding, and its dynamic too. The concept of the orange filter derive from the surrounding street lights. In my camera bag
My Sony a7M2 which is my favourite camera now. Am building around it and expanding it by month.More accessories are adding as we speaks.Feedback
