I took this photo at my Mothers place in Kentucky. She has really beautiful flowers, and these particular bleeding hearts were shining and vibrant that day. I thought wow, that would make some vivid colors the pink and green background combined. It was a nice image even straight out of the camera.Time
It was in the early afternoon I was roaming around my moms yard looking at all the colorful flowers. You can't go wrong with the bleeding hearts vivid colors. Its one of my favorite flowers to photography. Fell in love with the curve of the stem too.Lighting
The afternoon sun on those pink little petals was all I needed that day to bring out the vibrant pink of those blooms.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3100, and a 50 mm 1.8 lens. I didn't have a tripod handy so this was a handheld shot.Inspiration
Well the thing that right off the bat caught my eyes was the vivid pink color against the lush green. Your eyes were drawn to the contrasting colors immediately. I got several shots that day, but this was my fav with the gentle curve of the stem.Editing
Post processing consisted of a little cropping, a bit of saturation to bring out those fantastic colors and just a smidge of sharpening.In my camera bag
Normally what I carry in my bag of tricks are my recently purchased Nikon D5100 with a D3100 backup, a 50 mm 1.8G lens, a 300mm lens along with my kit lens. Lens wipes, extra batteries, and sd cards, charger.Feedback
On flowers what I end up looking for are bright or contrasting colors. I like a lot of color. I try to stay away from messy or busy backgrounds. I make sure I have the kind of light I need. I am constantly looking around and framing things with my eyes, and asking myself...would that make a nice picture?
