I love this shot....most professionals would have trouble with this capture! But, more than that.....it tells me you have the "eye" that sees beyond the obvious....you are going to soar!

I shot this photo in my front yard. I am an amateur photograher and still trying to learn the settings on my camera. All my photos, including this one, is done by trial and error.Time
I had read somewhere that they best time to take outdoor photos is early morning or later in the afternoon. So, keeping this in mind, I chose to shoot this photo between 2pm and 5pm. It was summertime and I had spent a few hours and hundreds of shots trying to get at least one good one.Lighting
As I had mentioned, it was outside, late afternoon. It was also in the shade, as the sun had moved to behide my house.Equipment
Well, this may sound a little strange, but I used a large bore needle and syringe to make the water drop. I am a nusing student and one day thought about how precise a needle and syringe is. I thought, this just might might prefect a small water drop. I also used my Cannon Rebel T2i camera with the 50mm lens that came with it. I did not use a flash, as I don't have the best of luck using the flash. I am going to have to work on that. I had a very, very small tripod, but I didn't use it for this photo.Inspiration
I love looking at photography. My favorite photography is where there is little to no editing no to the photo. Maco photos have always facinated me. I have seen these amazing photos of water drops, with images inside the water drop. I was determined to figure out how to do this.Editing
Most of my photos I have taken have had very little to no editing done to them. Usually, if there is any editing done to my photos, it will be the outer most edge of the photo. However, this photo of the water dops, I did not do any kind of editing. The reason for not editing or processing my photos is I can look at the photo and say this was all me. I can say Photoshop did not make this photo, I did.In my camera bag
Normally, I carry two cameras in my camera bag, my Cannon Rebel t2i and a Sony Cybershot, (a point and shoot). I of course always have my iPhone on me at all times. I use all three cameras. I also always have an extra SD card, a one foot high tripod attached to the side of my camera bag. I also have a standard zoom lens in my bag. And that is pretty much it. As I mentioned I am a full time nusing student, so I am able to buy camera eqipment such as different types of lenses. I just have to make the standard lenses I have work.Feedback
Patience!!!! This photo required a ton of patience and perseverance. I am not usually someone who has a ton of patience, but when I shot this photo, I was proud of myself for finding patience. You can use an eye dropper for the drop of water, but it might make the drop too heavy and it will drip before you can shoot the photo. Spray bottles are very usefull, although the drops a very random. Also using a spray bottle, will create smaller drops and you will need a good macro lens to capture the drop. I do not own a macro lens, so I needed the drop of water to be perfect. So I recomend using a needle and syringe. The idea is to have an image behind the drop of water, zoom in on the drop of water. This makes the image in the background blurr out, making the veiwers eyes focus on the image in the drop of water. It is all about angle, so you would need to shoot many photos at different angles. Keep in mind, what ever the image is in the drop of water, it will appear upside down. So if you were to use say something that needs to be right side up, you will have to either flip the background befor you shoot the photo or flip the photo after you have shot the photo. A flower is perfect for the background, because it does not matter if it is right side up or upside down.
