Really like this. Very nice. Everything. The comp, the POV, the treatment in post, etc. Nice pop on the posts.

Location
At Station Pier,Port Melbourne Victoria. An unused section of the pier where only the bollards remain. The section off to the right in the picture is a working part of the bays docking precinct. Off to the left but unseen in this photo is where the cruise liners and the Tasmanian ferries dock.Time
Taken 30th August 12 at around 7.44 pm. Late winter in Melbourne.Lighting
I was learning a new skill with this shot, on a brand new lens and at night. Very happy with the result but more practice needed.Equipment
Canon 1000D tripod and my new lens canon f2.8 24-70. at 60m Iso 100 at F9 for 30 seconds. Playing with the cable timerInspiration
I love the water and the colour changes that we get at this venue are amazing. Due to the fact that both side are working docks there is always something happening here.Editing
A little post processing to straighten the horizon and a bit of sharpening. In my camera bag
Tripod. Canon body1000D now i have upgraded to a Canon 6D and my lens 24-70 f2.8 and it was the kit lens but again upgraded to Canon 70-200 F4 and most recently a Canon 16-35 F2.8 . ND400 and a Polarising filter, spare batteries and SD cards. cleaning gear for water spray. torch.Feedback
As i said this was my first time playing at night so lots to learn but learning to select infinity on your lens and go manual focus and just play around. I am always asking question of other photographers and have been lucky enough to have contact with a few who are happy to take out a few people when they go out and show us the ropes. (For no cost) their time and skill passed on is invaluable to everyone to goes. Jump on social media and read and join groups that are happy to exchange information with each other. Most of all enjoy your photography, thats what it's all about.
