I took this photo at my sons house in Sweden. These are my two small granddaughters running through the field. It is completely unposed as it was all I could do to keep up with them!!Time
It was an evening shot and the light was particularly good. Low sun and a darkening sky.Lighting
The lighting is natural sunlight.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D mark 2 with a 24-105 lens. It is my ideal carry around kit.Inspiration
The lighting was amazing and the girls had been dressing up in their princess outfits. They wanted to run in the field and I seized the opportunity of lighting and subject. A lovely evening and a picture to treasure.Editing
I work in photoshop. This image did not need a lot of work, I just adjusted the levels and curves and desaturated a little of the colour to achieve the desired effect. In my camera bag
I carry very little equipment on an average shoot. The Canon 5d Mk111 and the 24-105 lens plus a 17-40 lens for wide angle shots. This set up suits my kind of photography ( and my age!) as I don't want to be weighed down by equipment.Feedback
Don't try to pose the children, they mostly won't do what you ask anyway. Just keep shooting unobtrusively until they forget you are there, that way, the shots are more natural. I don't think Lily, the 2 yr old in the foreground, even noticed I was there!
