Behind The Lens
Location
I took this picture at a stranger's garden, in Alipurduar, India. Tropical climate in this region has encouraged the growth of reptiles among other species of the ecosystem.Time
It was near dusk and them cold blooded lizards were out basking in the last rays of heat on a winter day.Lighting
The lizard was chasing the sun rays so I didn't have to worry about any lack of light!Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 with a 70-300 mm Nikkor lens with VR. Handheld shot, no tripod.Inspiration
The rays of light were drawing slowly, forming a dim reminder of how cold the night was to be. I saw the lizard chase the rays down from its perch on a treetop to the fencing until it had its fill of the sun! I wanted to capture the smug satisfied look it had after!Editing
Minor bumps in Saturation. In my camera bag
My D7000 body was irreparably damaged. I've since moved on to a D750 body with a Tamron 28-75 mm lens and a 150-600 mm one which I recently acquired. I travel a lot for which I prefer the smaller lens.Feedback
Framing the shot is very important. Try looking for various angles to your subject instead of a see and shoot approach. Oh and did I mention that you need to be sneaky? There usually is a certain space beyond which lies their panic button. Long as you are out of their comfort zone, they are happy to pose!
