Very great sunset photo. You have captured the rays of the about to set sun. You have captured also the dramatic clouds. and you have the water in the middle ground and you have the mountains at the back. It is great and capture more!

Location
This photo was taken while on a trip to Yosemite National Park on July 2014. We spent the night before camping at Mono Lake because we wanted to image the tufas and night sky. Following morning, I decided to also try a nice sunrise. After about 50 takes, I decided, this was one of the best ones.Time
Picture was taken around 6 am. Got up around 5 am to get the tripod and camera set up and to take in the glorious moment when the Sun would make it's first peek of the day over the mountain tops on the horizon...while everybody else in the camping party were still sleeping. Talk about great moment to myself!!Lighting
I took about 50 exposures. Did bracketing to make sure I got a balance exposure. One to fulfill my mental image. And I think, I managed.Equipment
I used a Canon 60D, 18-135mm f/3.5/ 23mm Canon lense, shot at f/13, ISO 100, f/l of 18mm, an Orion Paragon-Plus XHD Extra Heavy-Duty Tripod, Canon remote release cable, no filter, no flash.Inspiration
I was taken by the magnificent view the evening before and composed in my mind a shot like this one.Editing
I did some HDR processing, a little light adjustment to accentuate the contrast, and some cropping to reduce the foreground. In my camera bag
I carry three Canon cameras in my bag. A 60D, a 700D(Rebel T5i) and a rebel XS. Canon 18-55mm, Canon 18- 135mm, Canon 70-250mm EF-S and a Canon 75-300mm lenses. A Tokina 11-16mm F2.8, A manfroto light weight tripod, an Orion Paragon-Plus XHD Extra Heavy-Duty Tripod (for landscape images), ans some filters.Feedback
It's not only great to be able to witness such a great sunrise, but the more time you allow yourself in order to make sure all is set and ready. Make sure you bracket and shoot in RAW mode. And take as many exposures as you can with only a few seconds in between as the Sun rises pretty fast after it shows over the horizon. Pay attention to your histogram.
