This is an amazing shot. Beautiful contrast and composition. Should be a Christmas card.

Location
I noticed this doe in my backyard while puttering around the kitchen. I grabbed my camera and was attaching the zoom lens while running down to the basement, trying to make sure that I didn't miss the photo op. and didn't drop the camera in the process! I went to the sliding glass door and after focusing on the doe, I tapped on the glass and she looked right at me. I think I only took one or two shots but the timing was awesome. I have to say that for a shot taken through glass, this turned out better than I expected.Time
This shot was taken at noon with an overcast sky.Lighting
The cloudy day was an advantage as I didn't have to worry about shadows and such.Equipment
I took this shot with my Nikon D80 and 300mm zoom with no tripod and no flash.Inspiration
I have taken hundreds of photos of deer in my backyard and none were worthy of sharing until this one.Editing
I darkened the colors a tad in Photoshop and cropped the photo to have the deer on the right side of the frame. In my camera bag
Nikon D80, and D5100 with filters, zoom lenses, and off camera flashes to match.Feedback
Patience, luck, and timing are needed more so than camera settings to capture a shot like this one! Animals and children are among the most difficult subjects to capture as there is sometimes not much time to change your camera settings.
