The Treasures are a very famous cattle family from the Victorian High Country around Dargo in the Alpine National Park. The story goes that when mustering their bush cattle the Treasures (including Mrs Treasure) based themselves just to the North of Dargo in this log hut, over the years it became pretty dilapidated to the point the long suffering Mrs Treasure refused to stay in it anymore so a new hut was built alongside, this is known as Mrs Treasure’s hut complete with a bathtub it certainly would have been one of the more salubrious mustering camps in the district! Architecture was obviously a secondary consideration to practicalities. Since then another hut has been built for the cattlemen so the little clearing holds three huts but Mrs. Treasures hut sits on the highest ground. The oldest hut is depicted in these images.
