Location
It was a tension filled day at work and I ran out of ideas. Just to clear my mind, I decided to take a stroll in a public park nearby. I clicked this red Gerbera flower in that public park. (India)Time
Photo was clicked between 1200 to 1300 hours.Lighting
Since it was a sunny day, the hard light directly from the sun had the effects on my exposure. Hence I had to keep the ISO at a bare minimum.Equipment
I used my Canon SX 130 IS for this snap.Inspiration
As I was walking, the yellow stamen of the gerbera arrested my attention against the dark backdrop of its red ray and black disc flowers. Incredible! The stamen looked exactly like a male organ! Of course, the stamen is the male part of the flower. I marvel at the creative genius of the creator.Editing
I decided to exhibit the stamen against the backdrop with the bokeh effect. As there was hard light from the sun, I had to click it from various angles till I got the right exposure. I didn't do any post processing.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon EOS Rebel T3 along with Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II and Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6. Apart from this I carry the ever reliable Japanese Focal 20-08-45 tripod. But on this particular day, I only had my Canon SX 130 IS.Feedback
The more we learn about nature, the more we will be able to appreciate. This will find expression in our shots. I used shallow depth of field to represent the main subject in the photograph and the bokeh effect to portray the other artistic parts of the flower in the out of focus areas. Usually, the shallow depth of field with the bokeh effect gives a creative result.
