Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in my home, as an early experiment with light and color.Time
I took this shot around midday.Lighting
The natural light coming through the window illuminated these blooms from behind, making them look like they were glowing. My goal was to capture that.Equipment
This was shot with my point-and-shoot, a Fujifilm FinePix S8630. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
My husband brought these flowers home to me on a whim, and I was looking for the right place to display them. The spot in the window was so stunning that I decided to try to capture it.Editing
Because of the bright sunlight, I pushed the exposure back to highlight the brilliant colors in this image. In my camera bag
At the time I took this photo, the Fujifilm FinePix S8630 was my primary camera. I've since upgraded to a Nikon D5300, with an 18-55mm lens, and several vintage lenses from the 50s that I inherited.Feedback
The key to this shot was having full sun coming through a south-facing window and the translucence of the flower petals that became the focal point of the shot. I know some photographers prefer to avoid fill sun, but I like to experiment with all different kinds of lighting.
