a wild red, a memorable encounter as he was on the side of the road at a state park right out of my car window, and he just posed for my camera, it was such a moment when he glanced at me and let me photograph him.

Location
This photo was a lucky wild encounter at a state park in New Jersey. I would prefer not to disclose too many specifics about the location because that can be a safety risk to the foxes if they become to acclimated to people. Some park guests are not always respectful of the wildlife and habitat where this photo was taken.Time
This was taken in the afternoon during winter.Lighting
There was a light amount of snow on the ground so some of the light refracted off behind the fox. The red of his fur really stood out with the white snow as a contrast and it can be very tricky getting the right white balance with light snowfall tricking the camera sensor.Equipment
This photo was taken with a canon rebel T3i and a 55-250mm telephoto lens. No tripod as the camera was handheld.Inspiration
Me and my mom were just lucky to be driving to the beach when we spotted him along the roadside into the park. I was a passenger in the car, rolled down my car window and had my camera I only took a few brief shots, did not get out of the vehicle or feed him. It was just amazing to see him for a few moments and then we drove on.Editing

I usually have my canon rebel and my 55-250mm telephoto zoom which was a kit lens that came with my camera. The zoom allows alot of range and variability in the type of shots I can take. I mostly enjoy photographing nature and wildlife in my parent's backyard so I like a longer lens which allows a close up without scaring my subjects.Feedback
Sometimes an encounter is pure timing and luck and you don't always predict what you will see. Just get outdoors and explore and bring a camera along.Be mindful of your surroundings and respectful of your subject as you don't want to put yourself or the animal at risk.
