This was the last stop on a trip we took. I thought the Badlands, right next to the Black Hills, in South Dakota, had every bit of the big wide open views one finds in the Rocky Mtns. From here it felt like you could see forever. Add in a blowing wind and some heat and this was every bit as empty, desolate and wide open as any spot you'll find "out West". South Dakota was the highlight of the trip for me, because of hidden gems like this place.
