Deep in the heart of the Cascades in north central Washington state, Highway 2 narrows and steepens and begins a long climb up Stevens Pass. If you stop at Deception Falls and hike a bit, I think you enter one of the neatest bits of old growth forest I've ever been in. A sweet little stroll through a deep dark mysterious slice of mountain ecosystem that exists in very few places. Love Washington state!
