Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Saratoga, NY.

Time

It was taken approximately 8:00 a.m.

Lighting

I used two soft boxes with Nikon SB910 flashes.

Equipment

I used a tripod with my Nikon D810, Nikon flashes.

Inspiration

I love taking photos of people and I love to bring out their personality. I also love rust and old architecture. I love perspective lines and I tried to bring all these things together in this photo.

Editing

Yes, this is actually a composite. The photo of the girl was taken in the studio and the bridge is another photo.

In my camera bag

I always carry my D810 (sometimes two D810's if I'm on assignment). I always carry my flashes, my pocket wizard remotes and several memory cards and batteries. I also carry a five in one diffuser/reflector.

Feedback

I would have to say it's all about the lighting and the pose. Especially when doing a composite. You want to make sure the lighting looks like it's coming from the same direction.
