Lol...what a great shot! Hardly find them not being alert and interesting in what you are doing!

Behind The Lens

Location

The Berlin Zoo

Time

Mid-day

Lighting

Sunlight was coming in through a skylight which allowed for the natural feel to the image. I try to never use flash on either animals in captivity, nor in the wild, because their eyes are much more sensitive and can be a serious shock to the critters.

Equipment

This image was taken with a Nikon D7000 and a Nikkor 70-300 lens.

Inspiration

I was watching the Squirrel Monkeys and noticed that this one had climbed away from the others and looked like he was getting comfy. I decided to stay put and wait for something to happen, and I am very glad I did. I get many photos of him dozing off, this one being one of my favourites.

Editing

No post-processing!

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-105mm, Nikkor 70-300mm, Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, Nikon SB-700, 5 Sandisk memory cards of various sizes, remote, Solmeta GPS (amazing), large Gorillapod, Manfroto tripod, and a multitude of other small accessories and cleaning products.

Feedback

Have patience! Even at the zoo, don't just point and click and move on! Take a moment and watch how the animals interact with each other and with the crowds of people. Nothing happening? Come back a couple times during your visit and see if anything has changed or watch the excitement at feeding time!
