Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my bedroom in Georgia.

Time

It was mid afternoon.

Lighting

I pulled all the shades up and tried to use as much natural lighting that I could.

Equipment

Nikon D5000 with a AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens, no other equipment.

Inspiration

Grace and Brooklyn are my first grand children, born 11 days apart to my 2 daughters...who swear it was not planned like this. I just thought how cute it would be for them to hold hands while they were sleeping, so innocent and beautiful and just to really focus on the tiny little hands and the rest kind of blurred. And the black and white really helped.

Editing

No, I just left it alone...I am glad I did.

In my camera bag

Most of the time I carry very light...My Samsung NX300, the 20-50 lens, the10-fish eye, and the 50-200 OIS. The Samsung NX300 take's great pictures and is light. I have 2 Nikon's and one is a infrared and 2 tripods- one wraps around poles and such and the other can be a tripod or a monopod. So, it depends if I am doing a lot of walking or hiking , then I definitely like to take the lighter camera.

Feedback

Well, I either try to look for moments to capture without having to set it up myself or set up the scene myself. When I captured my grand-babies it was already half way there, I put their hands together and hoped they would stay asleep or like that until I got the shot I wanted. Sometimes I just take a lot of shots because I would rather have too many than not have the one shot that makes you smile and are just happy you captured that particular moment.
