I took this photo at our local orchard. I love photographing there anytime of the year, but especially in the fall when the pumpkins ripen. There are literally acres and acres of them! The orchard sits in a bowl with the Blue Ridge mountains all around it. You get a beautiful view of the sky and land both.Time
This was taken mid day.Lighting
In the mountains you never know how the weather will be from one minute to the next and from one spot to the next. I live very close and it was sun shinning there when I left home. I got to the orchard and storm clouds were rolling through. It was a fantastic sight to see the orange of the pumpkins against the dying greens and grey/black clouds. The sun was actually starting to come out behind me which gave a lot of light looking northward.Equipment

I really wanted to capture the expanse of pumpkins this orchard grows each year. It really is amazing to see in person.Editing
I did a low opacity of color burn over the clouds and a few spots in the landscape. It brought out the anger and drama in the clouds. In my camera bag
I keep my nd filters, cleaning cloths, macro lens, plastic bag (in case of rain), a pen, small writing tablet, extra lens caps, extra sd cards and a tiny screwdriver.Feedback
Find those beautiful spots and go many different times of the year or even during the day. It's amazing how different the same place can be. Look for those days when the weather may be interesting, sunrise, sunset, snow or rain. You can find a spot that has stationary subjects and those that change with the seasons. This spot is interesting even without the pumpkins. Every time I go here I enjoy myself, I have fun shooting and usually end up with a lot of fresh fruit.
