Location
This photo was taken on Captiva Island in Florida. We usually spend our time on the west side of the island and see amazing sunsets. One day we decided to get up early to see the sunrise.Time
This was taken at sunrise, about 6:45 am. Since I am not a morning person, it was not easy to get up so early but it was worth it!Lighting
I wanted the picture to be natural so I did not use my flash or any other lighting.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D50 (Aperture: f/9.0; Shutter Speed: 10/2500; Focal Length: 240/10). No other equipment was used.Inspiration
The east side of Captiva Island is thick with mangrove trees and it isn't easy to see the sunrise let alone take a photo of it. We were determined to do just that and lucky enough to snap this photo.Editing
No, I don't usually do a lot of post-processing other than cropping. In my camera bag
This photo was taken several years ago. I currently have a Nikon 3200 and my favorite lens is the 55-300mm. I also carry the 18-55mm kit lens and a 35mm prime lens. I often carry a mono-pod rather than the bulkier tri-pod and always have my lens cloth with me.Feedback
The best advice I can give others is to be patient. Now, if you knew me you might find that funny as I am not always as patient as I should be. However, when it comes to photography I am very patient. I love taking photos and carry my camera with me 90% of the time - the other 10% I wish I had it with me! Actually, that is something I often tell people - bring your camera with you as you never know what you might see! Oh, and drink lots of coffee if you're going to be awake to see the sunrise.
