Return visits over fifteen years resulted in this masterpiece. The leaves of the Aspen tree turned a vivid hue, after torrential rainfalls in the late summer and early fall. Standing on top of my Jeep with the tripod and view camera, I gained the height I needed to frame Breckenridge in the Aspen tree window to create one of my best landscape images of the town.

One of the many places I return to year after year, it holds a special place in my heart. I shoot a new overlook of Breckenridge, Colorado every season. Only every ten years or so do we have the color turn as vivid and saturated as we do here. But the color was as short-lived as it was intense. The day after this shot was taken the delicate yellow and orange aspen leaves were shunned from the tree - replaced by heavy white snow. And thus our majestic fall was over for another season - replaced by one of the heaviest early-October snowfalls in twenty years.
