Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken almost by mistake. I was wandering in the garden and spotted it. Took the shot with no thought to lighting or anything and when I downloaded it realised I had a winner.

Time

This picture was taken mid afternoon, about 3pm, as the sun was starting to go behind the trees.

Lighting

The lighting was a complete accident. The flower was growing under some pine trees and I think this helped to soften the glare but still allow for the brightness.

Equipment

At this point I was using my point and shoot Nikon Coolpix L100. it was a bit of a struggle as the wind was blowing, but then again maybe I was moving it the same direction as the flower.

Inspiration

I love close up nature photos and was experimenting to see how close I could go. Actually learning the capabilities of the camera. And still learning.

Editing

The only post- processing I do is to crop my pictures. Still trying to get my head around the editing programs - and finding the time.

In my camera bag

I now carry both cameras - the Nikon and a Canon 1200D usually fitted with a 70- 300 sigma lens. The Canon 18-55mm is always there just in case but generally I do not like to change my lens when I am out and about. Other than that its spare batteries and a note book.

Feedback

Take a chance. As I have said before there was no consideration as to what the outcome would look like. I have actually tried to emulate this picture since then and have never managed to get it again. Take the shot.
