Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken out by Gull Lake, AB. I am a self taught photographer so every shoot is always going to be something new to me because I do like to challenge myself.

Time

This was taken early in the evening. Clouds were starting to move in so I wouldn't be dealing with the harsh summer sun. s

Lighting

With the clouds acting as a nice filter to diffuse the sunlight, I was able to use my flash with softbox to fill in the shadows

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon 5D Mark II with my 24-105 lens and my Canon 580EX Flash with Softbox

Inspiration

I have done a couple of other shoots with this lovely girl. She is a lot of fun and is takes direction quite well. This was kind of her senior high school photos as she graduates this year. I wanted to use the tracks a metaphor portraying looking to the future and looking back on where I came from.

Editing

There was a little post processing in lightroom 5 for some color correction as well as giving it a different look.

In my camera bag

My bag usually consists of my Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 30D (nice backup as it used to be my primary), an assortment of lenses (24-105, 50, 500)

Feedback

This was a pretty basic shot and am humbled that this shot is liked so much. Just happened to be perfect conditions that day. Calm wind, summer time, early evening and the clouds coming in to diffuse the sun.
