Humans domesticated horses and needed them to perform a variety of duties. One type of horse-powered work was the hauling of heavy loads, plowing fields, and other tasks that required pulling ability. A heavy, calm, patient, well-muscled animal was desired for this work. Some homesteaders choose a horse drawn plow for an experience that brings them closer to nature and avoids the costs of gasoline and machine parts. In the Romanee Conti vineyard in Bourgogne is a tradition.

I recognised the vineyard immediately as I am a wine guide in Burgundy! Great photo!

Behind The Lens

Location

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, in Burgundy, France that produces white and red wine. It is widely considered among the world's greatest wine producers, and DRC bottles are among the world's most expensive. It takes its name from the domaine's most famous vineyard, Romanée-Conti.

Time

The first hour of the morning

Lighting

To take this photo definitely the best time is in the morning or at sunset: Unfortunately for this type of work you prefer to use the coolest hours of the day, or just after sunrise.

Equipment

My Nikon D800 with a old nikkor AI 24mm f2,8 No tripod, no flash.

Inspiration

I am an agronomist, and I am very interested in the different cultivation techniques, even the oldest and most traditional.

Editing

I tried to emphasize some aspects of photography, using the method given by Ansel Adams ....

In my camera bag

My Nikon D800, with only old nikkor AI lens: 24mm f2,8, 135 mm f2,8 and 300mm f4,5. A solid tripod and a monopod.

Feedback

As always it is good to study first what you want to photograph: to make this photo I am informed about the processing methods implemented by Property Romanée-Conti.
