Location
I took this photo at my College in Chennai, India.Time
I was entering my college around 7-8 AM and this tree near the entrance caught my attention as it was usually seen full of leaves. It must have been the start of autumn season and thus I found the tree in such a state engulfing most part of the view.Lighting
To be frank, I didn't have any idea of how the photo would look to the audience when I took. I started taking multiple images of the tree and the sky shining behind the tree proved to be a good backdrop with not much light giving out sunflares.Equipment
This was shot on a Sony Cyber shot W710 with flash mode OFF. Since it is a compact camera, I didn't have to adjust much settings except to put the Intelligent mode.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of plants, trees, grass and other forms of greenscapes. When I came across this tree, it didn't have the features that generally attract me - green leaves but the tree stood out in the sense that it was tall and the view you see while standing under it gave me a magnanimous and gloomy look.Editing
I clicked the photograph it colour mode. But during post-processing, I found out that the gloomy, haunted feel that I wanted, could be achieved through a monochrome image. So I converted it into a B&W image and adjusted shadows and brightness accordingly. In my camera bag
Wherever I go, I have my compact camera in my bag. Sony Cyber shot W710 is my first and only camera till now and I always carry it though sometimes I use my smartphone for capturing quick moments while travelling.Feedback
Trees can provide to be wonderful backdrops as well as the main subject. One of the main things to keep in mind, when we are photographing a new object or location is to click photographs through various angles which holds true to photography in general. This particular tree photo was one of the 20 photos I took of the tree.
