Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the window of my downstairs bathroom. I had walked into the bathroom on one chilly afternoon and looked out the window. The sun was hitting the trees just right. I happened to have my camera on me. I opened up my window, leaned out and snapped this shot

Time

The time time of day that I took this shot was mid-afternoon. It was a very frigid day.

Lighting

Between the extreme cold weather and the way the sun captured the trees, I was very pleased with the shot that turned out from picture

Equipment

I used a Canon 7D camera that was given to me as a gift. No flash or tripod.

Inspiration

I have been given my camera as a way to supplement my income after a very tough divorce. I'm self-taught. I'm still learning. When I see a moment such as this one, that intrigues me, I want to be able to capture that time. I live in VT and I have many ways to capture my creativity. Such a beautiful area.

Editing

I try to do as little editing as possible. I like that to show my pictures in their "natural"state. I don't like to over filter. I like showing the real story.

In my camera bag

I carry with me a camera backpack in which I love. I'm still learning about all the different lenses. I always have a backup battery and SD card.

Feedback

I think my best advice to someone just starting out it to shoot from your heart. Do what feels good to you. You are your only competition. Don't worry about what other photographers are doing. Click away! The more shots you take the better you get at this craft.
