Location
Deep inside the Louvre in Paris, away from the fancy well known works of Art, these two ladies shared a quiet niche and a secretTime
The afternoon sun was still out and this was in a sheltered alcove.Lighting
The east facing window was about 20 feet away on this hot summer afternoon. The result was a soft box like quality so fitting to this quiet pairEquipment
I love Sony. This is a little point and shoot at 100 and 5.6, that fits in the pocket of a coat or in the side pocket of my buoyancy control vest when I go diving. All the scuba shots elsewhere on my profile were all taken with this Cybershot . I rarely use a flash, occasionally a tripod, none but elbows in tight and shoot between breathes as in this intimate image. A massive 4 meg sensor :-)Inspiration
When I saw these ladies, safe and snug away from the maddening crowds, a poignancy about unrecognized art and the skilled and studied efforts by a man soooo long ago, tugged at my heart. It felt like lost love. It felt like I was being drawn to tell his story - and bring to the forefront the story that he was telling. I have an idea what it is but I really want you to look, to see and mostt of all to feel the story that your heart and eyes tell to you through this image.Editing
Virtually untouched image. This was before I fell hard in love with Photoshop and all the other software that is out thereIn my camera bag
I travel light. This image is a simple Cybershot 4 meg camera. For years it is what I used. It is quick accurate and fits in a pocket. Times change. I started more ambitious shooting. Opera, events, actors and needed to have 'denser' images to make the best use of software. I now carry a Sony A7R Mark 2 and a A7m2 as a backup if doing something critical... and since it IS a Sony, lots of batteries. A polarizing filter have used but once fits in my pocket and a tripod that rarely leaves the car. The tripod is mainly for macro in my home studio or backyardFeedback
Here is what I like to say. SEE things. Not just look! There is a Zen quote that says, "The meaning of life lies in the verb - seeing". Here is a simple thing to do, when searching; let your gaze go from right to left rather than left to right like we read. It makes you 'see' more and scan less. Check out what is in the tiny cracks at your feet, peek into forgotten galleries (like this image was found), and always shoot what you feel rather than what you are looking at. If you are on motor drive for clicking off exposures, at least reduce it to slow. And I suggest you slow your steps too. For once you start a walk to 'see', the way appears.
