Location
This was taken on the Isle of Skye in Scotland at an area called "The Quiraing". I had DSLR and tripod with me but this was actually taken with an IPhone 5s!Time
We were up there for a holiday and we'd decided to travel around to see where some good walks were. It was just after lunchtime and had only finished raining about half an hour before. There were some photographers sitting on the grass, waiting in anticipation for that one shot. Just as I walk past the sky opened up. I swiftly got out my iPhone and took the shot. ????Lighting
As the sky had just started to light up, after a recent downpour, the sun rays came through the clouds to give them more definition. I edited the photo slightly at the top so the clouds had more depth. I was just lucky to be there at that time.Equipment
An iPhone 5s, my hand as a tripod and an editing app. Nothing else.Inspiration
With a view like that staring right at you, who wouldn't take the shot? Going to Scotland in the first place was my inspiration to try and capture great landscapes.Editing
Only a little. Lessened the exposure in the clouds to give them more volume. In my camera bag
At the time I had a Nikon D7000. A great piece of kit. I've recently updated to a Nikon D500. I usually take 3 lenses out with me. 1) Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 Wide angle lens. My workhorse. Essential for Landscapes. 2) Nikon 18-200mm. A great all rounder. 3) Nikon 50mm 1.8 Prime or Nikon 35mm 1.8 Prime. I always have at least one Prime lens in my kit. Also I carry a Polarizer lens filter to get rid of reflections.Feedback
Patience is the key. Keep an eye on the weather. It can be unpredictable especially in Skye. Fancy equipment doesn't take the photo, YOU do. This pictute proves this.
