Location
In the Northwoods. I am 75 years old, and my memory isn't what it used to be, so I don't remember exactly where I took this photo. I live in northern Wisconsin.Time
I cannot remember precisely, but it was during the day, and a fairly bright day, at that.Lighting
I was still new at using my camera and the computer, so I was disappointed that the background was so light. I didn't know at that time how to make it more pleasing.Equipment
My camera is/was a Nikon Coolpix. My current one is a B700, but I may have had a predecessor at the time of this photo. The unique feature of both is a swivel lcd screen. I was able to get the camera down on the ground and still see the subject by means of the swivel lens. I took the photo handheld -- no tripod. I did not use a flash, either.Inspiration
I've always enjoyed nature and am fascinated by mushrooms and fungi. I wanted to show the gills from below, so I was inspired to get low and shoot up.Editing
I don't believe I did any post process other than to possible lighten the exposure. I knew very little about post-processing at that time.In my camera bag
Interestingly enough, I do not carry a camera bag. My camera is not a DSLR, so I don't have interchangeable lenses to carry. I always have an extra charged battery or two in my pocket and sometime an extra SD card. I do have a tripod in my car, but I almost Never use it. I'm pretty simple!!Feedback
Find a way to get low down on the ground to be able to look upward at the subject. The flexible LSD screen is a definite plus. Otherwise, you might have to lie flat on the ground to look through a viewfinder or a screen.
