Location
This photo was taken in a small room at my condo in Modesto Ca.Time
I have one window in my small studio and the best light comes in at 11amLighting
I couldn't afford strobe lighting at that time; with natural light coming in I just use white light bulbs and made some really cheap light stands. I also attached a dimmer switch to control the brightness. I also used a reflector to bounce the nature light.Equipment
Canon Rebel T3 with a 24mm -105mm lensInspiration
The women in this picture is a dear freind and I volunteer to be my model. Knowing her for awhile I wanted to capture her personality. This picture became a series called "Faces of Kate"Editing
Beside the basic contrast, color corrections adjustments I had to scale up the bubble a bit to give it the effect I wanted. In my camera bag
I don't do portraits much these days unless I am in the mood to do something creative. I am now mostly a event/ concert photographer so I have in my bag Two 5d's Mark III, 72-200mm and 24-70mm lenses at times I may use my 600mm zoom if I have to shoot a show from back of house(soundboard)Feedback
If your looking to do something than the basic pretty girl standing near a tree portrait and want to do something creative; get to know your model well. The best creative portraits I have made is know their personality their different looks. I knew Kate well and all her expressions from a goof ball to sexy seductive look. So if you are working with a new model I would recommend to meet with them first; get to know them better and all their different looks; it also make them more relax if they have not modeled allot.
