Location
The photo was taken in Norway, around Lom. It was on the side of the road, on the way to the Geiranger Ferry.Time
It was around mid-day.Lighting
The lighting here wasn't planned, but it worked out perfectly. The mid-day sun and the blue skies eliminated most shadows. I wanted to make sure that the details in the frame weren't covered by too much shade.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark ii, with a 24-70mm lens.Inspiration
Norway is such a photogenic place, that it really isn't difficult to find a good location for a shot. The difficulty lies in originality. What I mean by that, is that you'll find many photos of Norway online. This makes it a lot more difficult to take a shot, which doesn't look too much like one which anyone can find in Google images. Whenever I take photos, I try to think: "can I google this same image"? If the answer is yes, then I don't see the point in taking the picture.Editing
There was very little post-processing in this image. I only brightened the shadows in the left hand corner a little bit.In my camera bag
When it comes to equipment, I'm a fairly amateur photographer. I mainly travel with my 5D Mark ii, and a 24-70mm les.Feedback
As I mentioned previously, originality is key in photography. One could easily take a shot of the view, which would end up looking like any other picture taken in Norway. Also, don't go crazy on the aperture. A little bit of depth never hurt anyone, and it adds a lot to the picture. In this case, it would be very tempting to turn your aperture all the way up to f18 (or even higher). While it will surely give you a sharp image, it will totally take away all perception of depth.
