In the afternoon.Lighting
Lighting is really only one aspect of a good picture. After all, lighting without an interesting subject or background is rarely interesting. In this case, everything seemed to pan out perfectly. A dark, contrasted sky, with plenty of light to open up the foreground.Equipment

When I noticed this shot, I realized it was the first time in my life I ever found a cemetery to be peaceful. In fact, when I saw this, I didn't even see it as something depressing, I only saw the beauty in it.Editing
Nothing too crazy. Opened up the shadows a bit and increased the contrast in the sky.In my camera bag
I'm not a fan of carrying a ton of equipment, especially not while on vacation. It complicates things and the bulk of equipment can distract you from properly taking in your environment. I was just carrying a small bag with the Canon 550D.Feedback
Travel. Doesn't have to be international travel, but just go see other places. The most random sight (like this one) can appear out of nowhere.
