Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken, visiting the Tian Tan Buddha in Hongkong.

Time

This was a very cold and foggy day in Hongkong during Chinese New Year. We went up early in the morning and queued for over 2 hours and when we finally arrived up at the mountain to see the Big Buddha, it was so foggy that we did not see anything of the huge statue. Obviously very disappointed we walked around the Big Buddha and we came across these smaller Buddha statues.

Lighting

The extreme fog made all the colours disappear, so this photo is taken with full colours, not black and white! But it turned out black and white, and it looks magical.

Equipment

I only used my Canon 50D to capture this shot.

Inspiration

There was a long row of small Buddha statues and they all looked so magical in the fog. I thought it would be a nice photo, if I only got part of the first statue and the row of Buddhas would fade into to fog.

Editing

No, I like my photos to be natural. This photo is not even cropped.

In my camera bag

I usually only have one lens in my bag, 18-270 mm, when I travel. That gives me the flexibility to take all different kinds of photos.

Feedback

Don't be discouraged by bad weather! We came to see the Big Buddha, but did not see anything at all due to the heavy fog. Instead of turning back we had a look around the place and wondered into something wonderful.
