That's a magnificent shot! I had one of these as a boy, I got it when it was the size of a small coin. I had it into adult hood. It lived about 35 years. That's a Red Eared Eastern Slider. Nice Job!!! I love it.

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken at a conservation park hidden near a highway close to my house.
Time
This definitely is one of my most favourite images! My mom and I had gone for a walk to take in the Autumn beauty that morning. I was lingering around and found a little pathway that led to the Don River. Just as I turned the corner of the little sandbank, I found this little guy soaking in the sun on a tree stump. He (I think it was a 'he') was just too cute to not take a snap of!
Lighting
Nothing extra was required thanks to the Sun.
Equipment
I used a Canon PowerShot SX500 IS, nothing further was required at that moment.
Inspiration
I'm new at photography and my love for nature made me take my camera to the park that day. I wanted to take pictures of the fall colours, however I stumbled upon this beauty. He was just sitting there soaking in the sun, oblivious to the camera clicking away. After a few clicks, he turned around and posed for the camera as if he knew I was going for that perfect shot. The colours of the trees behind him, the colour of the moss on the tree stump, and the colour of the Red Ear Slider just made it picture perfect. It was a shot meant to be!
Editing
I fortunately didn't have to do too much post-processing. I sharpened the picture a bit to show the bumps on his skin and the moss.
In my camera bag
If I said I had a bag, it would be a lie. If I had a bag, in it would just be my Canon PowerShot SX500.
Feedback
Keep an eye out for anything and everything because you never know what you would stumble upon. Always remember that animals are friendly creatures unless they feel threatened by you - don't make loud noises. Enjoy & have a passion for what you're doing!
