In my backyard, the ant is walking along the edge of my pool filter box.Time
Late in the afternoon when the sun was shining through a small gapLighting
I needed to wait for the sun to drop, the sun only comes through this small gap for about 5mins each afternoonEquipment
I used my cheap fuji camera it has an awesome macro function. Handheld no flashInspiration

I always carry my canon 70D,with an 18-135mm canon lens. I also take my fuji finepix for macros and I take my Tamron 55-270mm lens for telephoto zoom. Speed lite flash, tripod and extra batteries.Feedback
Macros take patience and a little bit of luck. Dont get disappointed if you struggle with it , I sometimes take 100 shots and for one reason or another they are unusable. A dedicated macro lens makes things much easier. Main thing is to have fun and experiment
