Location
This photo was captured at Leslie Harrison dam in Qld Australia.Time
Late in the afternoon during summer 2014Lighting
As it was late in the day the light was all but gone. I used longer exposure to give me more of a chance to capture the lightning.Equipment
I used my trusty Canon 70D, on a sturdy tripod and a standard canon kit lens.Inspiration
I have always wanted to capture lightning and storms since I was a child and this particular day there was a massive line of storms moving across our region so we set up in a location in front of the storms and waited.Editing
Quite a bit of post processing was performed, played around with colours and exposure times then added a HDR layer to bring out more detail in the clouds and falling rain.In my camera bag
In my kit I have my Canon 70D, canon kit lens 18-135mm, tamaron zoom lens 50mm-300mm and a Canon USM Macro 100mm lens, spèedlite flash plus a Velbon fluid head tripod, lens filters, reflectors and cleaning gear.Feedback
Persistence beats resistance, don't stop shooting. Dont be afraid to mix it up and try different settings.
