Location
I took this picture at my best friend's wedding on Mackinac island at the Grand Hotel in June.Time
This was taken just after sunset and the full moon was just starting to rise.Lighting
I wanted to make the moon rising behind them as huge as possible so I was actually quite a distance away and zoomed in on them when the moon started to rise.Equipment
This was taken with my Nikon Coolpix P510. Didn't have a tripod and I was too far away from them for a flash to be effective.Inspiration
When I found out there was going to be a full moon rising on the night of their wedding I knew I wanted to try and get this shot for them.Editing
I used lightroom to edit this photo. I lightened it a bit so you'd be able to see their expressions. I also added some shading around the edges to make the couple pop more.In my camera bag
I usually just have my Nikon Coolpix P510 camera, a few extra batteries and SD cards on me.Feedback
Planning ahead is always important. You need to know where the moon is going to be rising so you don't waste time trying to set up the people once it starts. Also because I knew I'd be out of speaking distance while taking these shots I also made sure to talk to the couple in advance about what poses they should try.
