Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was one of my first photos taken in Forster, Australia at a little lakeside river where you could sit and fish.

Time

It was around mid afternoon when I took this shot. I had wandered off in search of some nice photos and stumbled across this interesting little swing. This photograph was taken January, 2013 around 1:00pm.

Lighting

The shot was created with natural lighting from the sun shining through a big oak tree.

Equipment

I did not have my camera on me at the time and instead shot this image on an iPhone 4s.

Inspiration

I wondered about the story behind this swing. Was it once a childs' swing who has now grown up and moved out of home to create more memories? Or is it the venue of where two people met? There can be lots of interpretations to this image and that is why I love this image the most.

Editing

I certainly did. At this stage Instagram had just become the 'in thing' so I therefore added an Instagram filter to this image in the post-processing production creating a more 'vintage' feel.

In my camera bag

In my bag I normally carry on me two cameras, my Canon 5Ds and my Canon 700D. I will then have one lens on each camera, which will generally be my Canon 50mm f/1.4, and my Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8. These two lenses cover a wide variety of shots that I generally like- from close-ups, to wide angle images.

Feedback

Keep it simple. The best of photos are the ones that make you think about what it is you are taking. Remember, you are capturing the light that passes through the lens of a camera. Everything depends on lighting, perfect lighting = a perfect image.
