Location
This photo was taken in Sri Lanka in a temporary shelter after the December, '05 tsunami. We were there to supervise the construction of permanent housing in an area where over 600 people lost their lives.Time
This picture is one of my favourites of the children survivors of this terrible disaster. A couple of these young guys were children of one of the families we were building a house for. It was early in the afternoon and the sun was almost straight up. Being close to the equator, it's pretty much twelve hours of day light from 6 to 6. These little guys had come to get some water for their families and were more than eager to have their picture taken.Lighting
The lighting was natural from the sun and gives just enough shadow.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Pentax camera with no tripod.Inspiration
It was a typical day in visiting this particular site where we were interviewing potential families that had lost their homes. These lads caught my attention as we passed by the local water pump.Editing
No processing was necessary. In my camera bag
This was the only camera I had at the time.Feedback
Children's expressions are the most easy to capture on film. Always be ready to snap their many moods when the time is right.
