A cracking shot. I was up at Souter last weekend so will add a shot soon to your project. You can't beat the North East coast for dramatic seas.

Location
I took this photo from Seaham harbour on the North East coast of Co Durham in England.Time
After sitting away from the wind so I could set my camera correctly around 9.15 I headed the winds face on and eventually got the shot around 10am.Lighting
To be honest this was natural light.Equipment
I had two cameras with me but ended up using my Nikon D40 (old faithful) which had a 55mm to 200mm Nikor zoom lens attached, no flash needed and due to gale force winds the tripod was useless even when waited down so the shot was taken by hand.Inspiration
Me and my wife had walked the coastline here often and one day we decided to call at the coastal town for coffee on the way out shopping... Looking at the power of the sea along the coast made my eyes open a little wider and when looking down over the lighthouse my heart started pumping due to the size of the waves which were in abundance, all in all it was purely right place right time.Editing
Nothing done, this is the actual shot.In my camera bag
I carry two cameras, as per earlier comments my trusty Nikon D40 with 18-55 & 55-200 zoom lenses, I also have my D5200 with macro lens, 55-300 zoom and 12-24 wide angle.... Assorted SD cards, filters and lens cleaning equipment.Feedback
For this shot in the future I'd be looking for North Sea winds blowing from the sea the whip the waves up and a high tide which can be Googled for times, if the tripod is unsafe resting your arms on fencing or stone walls will give the shot more quality in the focus, manual settings are great but this shot was taken using the shutter release, 6 shots taken before this one and three of them are quality too.
