Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at The Pichindé river, approximately 1800 masl, in the area of cloud forest, PNN Los Farallones de Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. In this area, the plant leaves hang near the water surface. That's where the frogs lay their eggs and go unnoticed.

Time

We were going down the river about 1 km, it was 2pm and the light was not great, the day was cloudy and dark. I took this photo on Sep 6TH 2012.

Lighting

It was dark and the background vegetation was more than two meters, had to use flash bouncing the light on a white sheetand, i knew that the fund would be black.

Equipment

I took this photo with a nikon d3100 and used an old modified 28-80mm lens to get the effect macro, diaphragm control is manual and based on the lens, I used locked f/22.

Inspiration

Nature photography has always been of great interest for me, is the perfect marriage of my two passions, photography as a means of expression and nature as means of inspiration.. My intention is that through my photographs, the viewer feel some of the magic of nature, to show that the planet is a living being that deserves admiration and respect.

Editing

Usually I make adjustments Raw first and then jpg, in the latter I crop and Sharpness.

In my camera bag

When I took this picture wearing in my backpack a camera nikon d3100, DX 55-300mm lens, DX 18-55mm lens, an old 35-80mm lens modified for macro, tripod, flashlight, filters. but today I have a Nikon D600 and 4 fx lenses (18-36, 50, 105 micro, 80-400) and SB910 flash.

Feedback

Yes, please do not manipulate amphibians in order to get a photo, its are very fragile and susceptible animals if they are on a twig or leaf, they are comfortable and that gives you time to shoot several times.
