Location
The photo was taken near a house that I use as a base camp for my field trips in the National Park Los Farallones de Cali, Colombia. which I go to very often because it is very close to my city.Time
I took this picture in the morning almost noon, I had just returned from a hike through the cloud forest and luckily I found this scene.Lighting
The lighting consists of natural light.Equipment
This was shot on a camera Nikon D600, with an 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lens.Inspiration
I can observe this species daily in my city, but I had never had the luck to observe this behavior. I had seen some pictures of this bird unfolding the plume of its head and always wish to be able to photograph it. Finally that day happened and fortunately I had my camera at hand.Editing
Adjustments (crop, sharpen, noise reduction, color balance, saturation, brightness and contrast)In my camera bag
Camera Nikon D600, lens 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6, lens 105 mm f/2.8 micro, lens 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 and flash Nikon SB-910, additionally I carry a ND10 filter, a diffuser, an extra battery and some memory cards.Feedback
You never know when something exceptional will happen. I usually adjust the parameters of the camera permanently to the changing light conditions where there are normally pictures, this helps to gain time and not miss that special moment.
