Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken at the Pit and Pendulum studio before it was shut.Time
This was just an unplanned shot at Midday, during a studio shoot.Lighting
I wanted to make a film noir stylised image for a while and the natural light just lent itself to it perfectly.Equipment
Canon 5d Mark 2, Canon EF 24-70 mm lens and nothing elseInspiration
The model had this amazing film noir silhouette and while we were setting up I noticed the incredible textures and shadows on the floor & the shape of the light coming through the window. It was a spur of the moment idea but has become one of my favourite photos.Editing
Apart from a slight crop and converting to black and white, there was minimal post-processing done.In my camera bag
Apart from my 24-70 sigma lens (instead of the aforementioned canon 24-70), my bag is full of weird and wonderful things that I have found useful in the past. From bungee cords, clips, foil and reflectors, to my Trinity Nano lights and batteries, a couple of softboxes and a beauty dish. Within that bag, there isn't really any situation that I can work around to get an image that I want.Feedback
Take yourself out of your own head. Usual I have a plan of a set of images I want and you can become so focused on that you get tunnel vision and miss things that are spur of the moment. Its ok just to see what evolves naturally and you may shock yourself when you don't overthink it.
