Location
My husband and I were camping with our dogs at this small lake in Alberta. On our second night, a wicked thunderstorm rolled in, starting from across the lake from us. I had my camera, but no tripod. I balanced my camera atop a pail of dogfood on our picnic table and waited for the perfect moment. I got a few shots just before the storm reached our side of the lake and ran for cover as fast as I could! This was by far my favourite shot :)Time
Late nightLighting
Longer exposure (approx 3 seconds) o catch as much lightening as possible!Equipment
just my Canon Rebel XS and kit lens at the time. No tripod so I improvised and used a pail of dogfood to balance and get the right composition.Inspiration
Mother nature's amazing light show!Editing
i brought up the contrast a bit and had to crop some of the blackness and straighten the horizon. In my camera bag
I shoot Sony Mirrorless now, but still like to travel light if I can! I have a great wide angle lens, a nifty 50 and a couple OCFs for when needed.Feedback
PATIENCE and practice. I had been doing a lot of night photography and light painting at this time so it was all pretty fresh in my mind. I shoot portraits mostly now, but still love to practice night sky photos when there's opportunity.
