Great color that really pops. Super impressive sun star. Thank you.

Thank you! I didn’t know there was a red variety. Now I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for them

Location
I was in a Michigan walking through the forest with my father.Time
It was later in the afternoon while the sun was starting to get lower in the sky. This is what allowed me to position the sun.Lighting
At first I tried to take the shot without the sun in the background. This posed a problem however with the composition of the three flowers. Ultimately I decided to try one with the solar flare and it ended up as my favorite.Equipment
This adventure I had actually decided not to bring my Canon. It's big, bulky, and can make hiking more difficult. I did however decide to bring my small point-and-shoot camera, a Samsung ST76. It just goes to show that you should always have some sort of camera, although a professional one may be better.Inspiration
The lighting and the flowers themselves inspired me. Trilliums are somewhat uncommon. They have three pedals and the fact that there were three of them encouraged me. I thought that compositionally it would work out in my favor.Editing
Nothing too out of the ordinary. I did some minor sharpening and noise reduction. I probably increased the vibrancy as well.In my camera bag
I typically just bring my camera and an extra battery. I don't like to be bogged down by equipment that will restrict where I can go.Feedback
Be sure to carry a camera with you. The times you want it most may be the most inconvenient, but thats what will make an image stand out. Get down on the ground. Part of what made this image work was the upward angle at which I took it.
