Behind The Lens

Location

In front of US Capitol in Washington DC

Time

The clouds helped to eliminate the shadows

Equipment

Nikon D90, Tokina 11-16 mm

Inspiration

I was trying to create a black and white image that looked like the soldiers were charging out of the woods.

Editing

Used Nik Silver Efex Pro and lightly adjusted to get an entire range of black.

In my camera bag

Nikon D800, Nikon 24-70 and Nikon 14-24

Feedback

I spent a fair amount of time walking around the statue to find the correct angle. In addition I took a large number of images from a variety of angles, using the widest angle of the lens. Probably spent close to an hour looking at the statue and various views.
